January 14, 2009 - PureSpectrum, Inc. launches CFL sales program targeting utilities industry
January 14th, 2009SAVANNAH, GA – PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) has initiated a sales and marketing campaign directed at the utilities industry which will launch the company’s proprietary Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) and further the company’s mission to raise awareness of the importance of performance issues such as dimming and Power Factor.
As the utilities industry prepares for the transition from incandescent bulbs to energy efficient lighting, PureSpectrum’s uniquely engineered dimmable CFLs are particularly appealing to power providers because the ballast design incorporates high Power Factor to protect power quality while retaining a cost comparable to the cost of a standard CFL bulb. Additionally, all of PureSpectrum’s CFL products are fully dimmable and reduce power consumption during dimming, enabling additional energy conservation strategies such as daylight harvesting and occupancy sensors.
In December, PureSpectrum finalized its first manufacturing agreement and will be able to deliver product to North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries in the first quarter. The company has already confirmed its first order for dimmable CFL bulbs from a utility company, and PureSpectrum’s executive sales team will be exhibiting at the Utility Products Conference and Exposition in San Diego during the first week in February to support the sales effort and introduce the product line.
To support the company’s goal of accelerating the public’s learning curve regarding CFLs and influence public policy concerning power quality, the company’s leadership team toured Capital Hill during the first week of January. PureSpectrum team members met with representatives from various committees dedicated to addressing energy issues as well as members of Congress committed to providing alternative energy conservation strategies through the development and dissemination of new technology.
“We understand that our responsibility to the consumer is multifaceted and requires us to continue contributing to shaping the public perception of energy efficient lighting,” said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta. “With the inauguration of a new administration in the White House, we want to make sure our voice is heard advocating on behalf of high quality, high performance energy efficient lighting. We are extremely pleased with the reception generated by our line of products within the utilities industry, and we are fully invested in strengthening our sales effort through the encouragement of public policy surrounding setting standards for performance issues such as high Power Factor that could impact the consumer in the near future.”
PureSpectrum’s initial manufacturing order is in process, and Vanatta said a percentage of the first shipment will be used to gain approvals from standard setting agencies such as Underwriter’s Laboratory, the Federal Communications Commission which are required for lighting products to be distributed in NAFTA nations. PureSpectrum’s prototype bulbs have met or exceeded required performance measures in all critical categories, including meeting the 2008 Energy Star standards, in internal and independent performance testing.
Independent testing has proven that PureSpectrum’s technology provides a decided performance advantage over any brand name dimmable CFL on the market by enabling linear regressive dimming from 100% to 10% of perceived light output. In addition to more reliable dimming capability, PureSpectrum’s dimmable CFL contains far fewer components than conventional dimmable CFLs, allowing the eventual retail cost to be substantially lower than any product currently on the market. All PureSpectrum CFLs will be fully dimmable and compliant with established performance standards set forth by Energy Star, Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
