January 16, 2009 - PureSpectrum, Inc. moving rapidly toward manufacturing two-wire dimming device for energy efficient lighting
January 16th, 2009SAVANNAH, GA – PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) has engaged a private manufacturer to determine cost to manufacture for the company’s innovative two-wire dimming device in preparation for a product launch later this year.
Earlier this week, PureSpectrum announced that the company has initiated a sales and marketing campaign designed to introduce the company’s proprietary dimmable Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) to the utilities industry. PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta said the dimmer was a natural outgrowth of the development process that will provide a complementary product for the company’s dimmable CFLs and provide another potentially substantial revenue stream for the company.
“As we get closer to being able to manufacture and bring to market our dimming device, we realize that we will are going to be able to offer a unique dimmable package for energy efficient lighting within a very short time frame,” Vanatta said. “Not only do our bulbs and dimmer perform better than anything commercially available, our dimmable CFL bulbs will be the most cost effective, high quality dimmable CFL on the market. When packaged with our dimming device, we will be able to offer dimmable CFL bulbs which mirror the performance of incandescent bulbs that consumers are accustomed to having in their homes.”
Vanatta said PureSpectrum expects to receive feedback regarding the cost to manufacture in February in order to build a pricing model for a package that would include the company’s two-wire dimmer and dimmable CFLs. In internal and independent testing, PureSpectrum’s dimmer has proven to provide superior dimming performance for virtually any ballast-based lighting application, including CFLs, halogen lamps and Light Emitting Diode (LED) systems.
Lack of sufficient, reliable dimming capability has been a thorn in the side of energy efficient lighting products – especially CFL bulbs – among consumers and dimming has been identified as a primary issue for lighting manufacturers to address by the U.S. Department of Energy. Dependable dimming capability is considered a gateway function to gain access to other energy conservation strategies such as occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting which rely on automatic adjustment of light levels.
PureSpectrum’s dimmable CFLs have been proven to perform reliably with conventional commercially available dimmers, and in independent testing the company’s dimmable CFL achieved perfect linear regressive dimming from 100% to 10% of perceived light output according to power input when operated with PureSpectrum’s proprietary dimming device. PureSpectrum’s dimmable CFL contains far fewer components than conventional dimmable CFLs, allowing the eventual retail cost to be substantially lower than any product currently on the market. All PureSpectrum CFLs and products will be fully compliant with established performance standards set forth by Energy Star, Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
