The article focuses on the impending extinction of the incandescent bulb according to the provisions of the 2007 Energy Independence Act and the need for the lighting industry to not only meet heightened energy efficiency standards but also design products which accommodate consumers. PureSpectrum has gained the attention of the lighting industry during the past year through its market driven approach to developing dimmable Compact Fluorescent Lamps and other products which promote energy efficiency.
A recent national survey revealed that nearly 70 percent of American’s are not aware that federal legislation will phase out the incandescent bulb beginning in 2012. While the heavyweight corporate conglomerates that dominate the industry incrementally introduce advancements which may be available and economically viable to consumers by the time incandescent bulbs are phased out, PureSpectrum has engineered and introduced an entire line of dimmable CFL bulbs which will meet consumer performance standards and price points in 2009.
“A large part of our corporate mission is to raise awareness of the issues that are facing and will face the lighting industry, and we’re grateful for this opportunity to share our perspective in a media story which will reach hundreds of thousands of people,” said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta, who is quoted in Associated Press story in the Savannah Morning News. “We have believed from the beginning that promoting the use of energy efficient lighting that does not meet consumer performance standards is not fair to the consumer. We have directed our development efforts toward creating technologies and products which meet the criteria for energy conservation while also providing optimal performance for the consumer.”
In December, PureSpectrum finalized a contract with a private lighting manufacturer to produce a full line of branded, proprietary dimmable CFL bulbs ranging from nine to 23 watts. The company will be able to distribute product within the next two months and has launched a multitier sales and marketing campaign targeting North American utility companies and select retailers.
PureSpectrum will exhibit at electrical and lighting trade shows throughout the United States and internationally in 2009 to showcase the difference between the company’s dimmable CFL bulb and commercially available dimmable CFLs. PureSpectrum’s dimmable CFL not only performs better than any dimmable CFL on the market, the PureSpectrum model is built with fewer components to reduce failure incidences and lower retail cost.
PureSpectrum’s dimmable CFLs attracted the attention of the lighting industry when data generated through independent testing revealed that the company’s dimmable ballast technology enables CFL bulbs to dim like an incandescent bulb while also reducing power consumption during dimming. All PureSpectrum CFLs and products will be fully compliant with established performance standards set forth by Energy Star, Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
